Hi all, I've had a number of reports from players that Beat Hazard can crash to a black screen after load up. I'm 99% sure this is related to streaming music from a PC. I've tried all sorts of tests and nasty tricks myself (including shutting down the PC while it's streaming) and I can't get the game to break. All my code relating to media streaming is surrounded by Try-Catch statements so if anything goes wrong the game copes.

(And that all seems to work fine). So, if a game crashed to a black screen (no code 4) is this an indication that it's the system software dying rather than the game? I know some players use odd software setups (i.e. Not Media Center) to stream their music, could this crash the system?

Or, any other insights? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Steve • •. I actually can't help you out too much here, however I will say that I've never had it crash on me. Perhaps if the song is protected it will crash while trying to play it? I've heard of that happening in the past (not this game, mind you) however it sounds like that might be a plausible case where the game wouldn't handle it. I'm not entirely sure how much help you can get for this, especially since it appears to be a bit of a fringe case.

Hi all, I just thought I'd roll up the various issues people have had with the game and offer some solutions to them. General: - Ultra uses DX9 where Classic uses DX8.

Make sure you have DX9c or later: - 'Can't find appropriate full screen video mode.' Crash If you are running Win 8 you are going to need to find game's executable file (most likely somewhere around here C: Program Files (x86) Steam SteamApps common Beat Hazard) Enter properties, Compatibility tab and check 'Disable Display Scaling On High DPI Settings' and then 'OK' It should work now, you may also need to check 'Run as administrator' BH Crashes / resets on start up: - Try disabling the Steam overlay.
