Review 1: a cancer book that doesn't have much to add to this well-trod territory. The friendship is fine, although the characters feel generic to me. This book didn't affect my emotional landscape at all. The lack of medical reality which some reviewers have commented on didn't really bother me; I just felt let down by what seemed like a very generic story when I had been hoping to see some new insights on a problem so many (including me) struggle with. But I also don't care for Sarah Dessen books, beloved by many, so maybe I'm just a crusty old carbuncle. Review 2: The first half of the book left a lot to be desired. As I reached the end I connected a lot more with the narrator.
