I have an old Pantone Colorvision Spyder that comes with PhotoCAL software. The Spyder includes sensors for LCD screens. I've been reading mixed review about how well this works on Windows 7 64.

Some say update the software (I cannot find the update link) and it works well, while others say updating does not good. I think I might have even read a message (not sure) that the old software can be use. Any of you have experience with this? Also, in Windows there are some prermade profiles. Even though I've dealt with profiles before, I'm getting very confused in there. What I'd like to do before trying to device is to load an existing profile that might work well, but the term 'associate' and the interface confuse me.

Any easy tips? Which Spyder do you have? My guess is that it might be version 1 (branded Colorvision Spyder) and you are probably SOL as far as 64-bit drivers are concerned--my oldest Spyder (lableled Colorvision Monitor Spyder with Photocal) has suction cups on it as the way of attaching the sensor to the crt monitor and the newer Datacolor branded Spyders don't have the suction cups.
