So I fixed Google Chrome’s error message: ‘your preferences file is corrupt or invalid’ error. What was happening was that when I ran CCleaner my Chrome would revert back to this message. I did some experimenting with CCleaner and under Applications you will see a list for Google Chrome.

I just did two Windows installs this week and got the same results using Ccleaner and Chrome losing the Preferences. So this problem is fixed now. I don't know how others are losing their preferences though. Glad I could help someone because re installing Chrome did not help unless I killed all the folders in Users/AppData/Local because I did that first to get a new Chrome to work.
